1. Shattuc / Shattuc Rd.

Nearby on Shattuc Road, Kaskaskia College hosts summer youth camps on their main campus for baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

2. Sandoval

“The Parks and Recreation Department provides park facilities and programs to accommodate the needs and interests of local residents and visitors. Whether you are into sports, nature or just want to take your children to the playground, the Village of Sandoval is the place for you.”

Colonial Golf Course is also a great place to relax and enjoy a round! This 18-hole course hosts men’s, women’s, seniors’, and mixed leagues. Plus, multiple scrambles and events throughout the year.

3. Odin

Odin City Park includes a baseball diamond and playground. Each year in May, the Odin Fireman’s Picnic draws attendees from the area for carnival rides and food!

4. Hoffman

On the north side of Hoffman, Hussman park features a baseball diamond, basketball court, and playground.

5. Junction City

In the center of town, the Junction City Park and Teen Center has a playground.

6. Central City

To the east in Central City, there is the City Park and Lions Shelter with space to reserve for indoor or outdoor events, reunions, or activities. The park also includes tennis courts, a playground, and two baseball diamonds.

On the west side, there is a second city park with another basketball court and playground.

7. Centralia

Centralia has many parks and recreation, including Centralia Recreation Complex, Evers Field and Dog Park, Fairview Park, Foundation Park & Disc Golf Courses, Greenview Golf Course, Jaycee Park & Sprehe Fields, Lake Centralia, Point Park, Raccoon Lake, Rotary Park, and more details in the next article.

8. Wamac

Wamac City Park is home to the area’s annual Easter Egg Hunt and Wamac Fest! The park also features playground equipment and baseball field.

Historic marker: “Wamac’s Centralia #5 Mine Memorial was dedicated as a tribute to those who lost their lives on March 25, 1947, when Centralia #5 Coal Mine exploded killing 111 miners.”

9. Walnut Hill

On Main Street in Walnut Hill, the park has a pavilion, playground, and a basketball court that also has pickleball lines.

10. Hoyleton

The Hoyleton Community Club park includes a playground, pavilion, sand volleyball, and venue space. The community comes together to host the annual German-themed, three-day Hofbraufest that features car show, tractor show, live entertainment, and bratwurst dinner!

11. Irvington

Historic marker in Irvington Park as the site of the first agricultural college in the state of Illinois opening in 1866. The park is the location for the annual Irvington Homecoming and Fireworks in late June. The park has a playground, tennis courts, and pavilion for events.

12. Richview

Delmar Reed Memorial Park in Richview features a playground and basketball courts.
