Pepsi MidAmerica is currently seeking candidates for open several open positions.
Taylor Hayes, HR Manager for Pepsi’s Mt. Vernon and Chesterfield locations, held open interviews in the Centralia Chamber of Commerce conference room Thursday, the 14th, and will return Thursday, June 4 to conduct more.
In addition, Hayes is available at Pepsi’s Mt. Vernon depot from 1:00pm until 3:00pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to conduct interviews.
Hayes said she is currently looking to fill six sales merchandiser positions for the Centralia, Salem, Carlyle, and Breese areas. The position comes with an hour rate of $18-to-$19 per hour, insurance, 401K, PTO, and time off for holidays. According to Hayes, the position can also be tailored towards the candidate’s home community.
“I think sometimes there are misconceptions because when people see our Mt. Vernon depot they think they have to work in Mt. Vernon. That’s not the case,” said Hayes. “If you are a sales merchandiser and you live in Centralia or in the surrounding area, we would set you up with a job close to your home.”
Hayes said that while stocking products on shelves is a large component of the position, it has every bit as much to do with sales and building good relationships.
“This really is a sales role,” Hayes said. “You go into stores like Dollar General, Casey’s, and Wal-Mart and stock their shelves. But you are also in charge of their inventory. Having good relationships with the store managers and doing their reordering is a part of the position.”
Hayes said Pepsi provides 30-day training checklists and on-site training for new recruits, as well as sales trainings in their corporate offices in Marion.
