Community Traditions with Centralia American Legion Post 446

Some organizations connect generations through both service and shared traditions. American Legion Post 446, located in beautiful downtown Centralia at 117 South Poplar Street, is part of that community connection in Centralia, Illinois.

The post has hosted military remembrance programs and participates in local traditions honoring veterans. It is also known for its annual Fourth of July Homecoming at Fairview Park, which has brought together activities such as a carnival, car show, and fireworks.

In 2026, the post added another piece to the community’s history by burying a time capsule at Fairview Park to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Together, these activities reflect an organization involved in both remembering military service and bringing the broader community together.
