For the last eight years, Go Gurl Beaty Supplies has made its name by being a resource for sought-after beauty products not commonly found in the area.

From hair extensions, wigs, eyelashes, clothes, purses and a host of cosmetic items, Go Gurl’s inventory is something customers would otherwise have to travel an hour or more to find.

According to Larnnell Edwards, serving that need has been Go Gurl’s mission from the start.

“We’ve always tried to carry items that aren’t sold in town, things that people would have to travel for. That’s our biggest thing,” said Edwards. “We try to get new products every week based on what people tell us they need. It might be a hair grease or a certain comb they can’t find around here. It’s our job to find it and sell it at a better price.”

Edwards said the rareness of his products has helped Go Gurl cultivate its dedicated audience.

“Our products are what have helped us stay in business this long,” Edwards explained. “That’s what brings people in here. Once people see that we have the products that we do, they will come shop.”

Furthermore, Edwards said Go Gurl’s customer base extends beyond just Centralia, as the business has gained considerable reach across the five-county region.

“We get new customers all the time,” Edwards said. “We have a lot of customers from Mt. Vernon and other communities in the area, not just Centralia. A lot of times they will call ahead of time to make we have the item. If we don’t, I make sure to order it for them.”

Looking to the future, Edwards said he wants the people of Centralia and its surrounding communities to know Go Gurl is a resource for them and that any and all feedback about what to carry next is always encouraged.

“We’re here for the public,” he said. “The more items that we know the public needs, the more we can do. We are here for the city of Centralia.”

Go Gurl is one of three businesses located in The Commonwealth, along with Trends Dress Shop and Monroe Deen apparel.
