The Centralia Regional Library, in partnership with the Centralia Chamber of Commerce, hosted an After Hours event in honor of National Library Week and the 10th Anniversary of its building expansion.

Held from 5pm until 7pm Thursday, the event featured food catered by Billie Bryan and desserts from C’s Sweets Specialty, as well as a trivia-inspired scavenger hunt which encompassed the entire facility. Drawings were held for those who attended and participated in the scavenger hunt.

Addressing those in attendance, Julie Boltz, Director of the library’s board of trustees, thanked library director, Tammy Wendling and her staff for their efforts in making the evening a success; the library’s board of trustees, both past and present, for their dedication to the library; and the Hickam, Monken and Geary families for their sizeable contributions to the 2015 expansion.

Boltz also noted that Centralia Regional Library is the 3rd oldest Carnegie library in the state of Illinois.

“This is such a unique building in a unique area,” said Boltz. “Not that many libraries have an entire block to themselves. We are very lucky to have this facility.”
