Kaskaskia College Hosts Community Engagement Meeting in Centralia

President George Evans welcomed community organizations, city leadership, business representatives, and interested citizens to the Centralia Community Engagement Meeting on Wednesday, July 29, at the Harry L. Crisp Manufacturing and Trades Center.

Some highlights featured during the presentation:

  • For the 2025-2026 academic year, Kaskaskia College served 10,063 students, with 1,020 graduating with a degree or certificate.

  • A total of 22,378 total credit hours were awarded to high school students between dual credit, KC Now, and KC Jumpstart programs which totaled $3,489,984 in tuition savings.

  • A highlight is the increase in federal support for community colleges due to the improved responsiveness to the workforce needs in local communities.

  • During the community feedback portion, people shared positive stories of students who earned dual credits to save money at university, and personal stories of learning more at KC than other schools.

  • Evans noted that 80% of enrolled students are also members of the local workforce.
