Bayer Crop Science in Centralia, IL: Connecting Local Industry and Agriculture

Centralia’s business community includes manufacturers whose work reaches far beyond city limits. Bayer Crop Science’s Centralia operation connects local industry with the agricultural businesses and growers involved in seed production.

Located at 3421 U.S. Highway 51 South, the Centralia facility’s work includes cleaning, treating, and packaging soybean seed. In a 2024 Chamber feature, the site’s leadership also described collaboration with growers, contractors, planning teams, and Crop Science breeding teams.

That work offers a look at the steps behind preparing seed for agricultural use—and the people and facilities that support the process here in Southern Illinois.

Bayer’s wider Crop Science business offers seeds and crop protection products, connecting its Centralia operation to a broader agricultural network. For the Chamber, the facility is also an example of the variety of industries represented in our regional business community.
