Bolin | Experts in pipeline and tank maintenance
While it handles cases across the state and even the country at times, Bolin Enterprises, Inc. is committed to its home communities.
Based out of Casey, IL, the family- and woman-owned company offers a variety of services and departments, including pipeline and tank maintenance.
Russ Goodiel, who oversees Bolin’s environmental services, said that the majority of the company’s 250 employees are based in Casey, though Bolin maintains several satellite offices across the country, including the Centralia location at 211 E. 3rd Street devoted to environmental services.
“I handle all of the environmental issues that we encounter with Bolin,” said Goodiel. “We respond to truck accidents on the interstates and oil and chemical spills, really anywhere in the country. The truck accidents that we handle are mainly up in the Effingham area and over at the Indiana border.”
“We’ve got the crew and an emergency trailer that’s completely stocked,” Goodiel continued. “We will respond and mitigate the spill, and we’ll work on doing the cleanup and remove all of the free product. Eventually, we’ll get to the point where we remove all of the contaminated spill that’s been impacted by the release. We work with the EPA, IDOT and traffic control companies.”
I addition to the large-scale cleanup work, Goodiel said he also assists many businesses and homeowners throughout southern Illinois.
“Banks and real estate agents will call me if they’re doing a commercial property transaction that requires an environmental site assessment. I’ll go out and inspect the property and do a historical records search. Then I’ll make my recommendation.”
“I also do mold inspections and mold remediations as well,” Goodiel continued. “If a homeowner or someone calls and thinks they’ve got a problem, I can go out and do an inspection. I’ll take samples and prove or disprove whether there are issues with mold.”
Goodiel said he has worked in environmental services roughly 30 years, the last seven of which have been with Bolin. While his diverse workload keeps him busy, the longtime Centralia supporter has continually made time for his home community, both as an individual and a representative of Bolin Enterprises.
“I believe in giving back and doing what I can,” said Goodiel, who has participated with local entities and non-profits. “I started early on with the Centralia Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador. Then I went onto the board and up to president. I was also president of the Centralia Rotary and am still involved in the Southern Illinois Networking Association. I’ve always tried to be involved.”
