CHAMBER HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING FOR CITY’S FAIRVIEW PARK PLAYGROUND APPLICATIONS
The City of Centralia, in partnership with the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting Friday morning in celebration of the updated playground equipment at Fairview Park.
The ribbon cutting was attended by members of the Chamber and City, with City Manager Galen Mahle and Mayor Bryan Kuder addressing all who came.
“It’s a great day to be able to say that a lot of improvements are being made in the parks of Centralia, especially this one right here,” said Mahle, who said Phase 1 of the new applications were made possible as result of an OSLAD grant the City previously sought and received. “This is a great day for Centralia. We’re glad to be able to do this official ribbon cutting and say that all of the work as a part of this grant is done. We are happy to see kids out here and families out here enjoying it every day.”
Kuder followed, adding that the City would continue advancing Centralia’s parks. The mayor thanked those at City Hall who helped bring the Phase 1 of the Fairview Park playground additions to life.
“We are not done with our parks. We have ideas, community involvement for every park going on right now. This is just the beginning, essentially. We won’t stop until they quit asking us if we want to apply for grants," Kuder said. “With that being said, I applaud everybody that had a hand involved in this - public works, public properties, economic development, city manager, city employees, everybody who put a hand in this. For myself and the council, we appreciate all of the hard work.”
The Chamber wishes to thank the City of Centralia for its continued efforts to improve community parks and enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages.
