Liberty Village of Centralia has welcomed Pamette Fisher, LNHA, CPD, as its new administrator.
Taking the position as of April of this year, Fisher brings 20-plus years of experience in long-term care. The West Virginia native said she has worked locally in the field since relocating to Southern Illinois in 2004.
“I’ve been in administrative roles for a few years now, and I have been doing long-term care for over 20 years as a nurse,” Fisher said. “I’ve done about 10 years with the population here in Centralia. Long-term care is my thing. It’s my heart.”
“It’s great to be home. I have worked further out in the past, and it’s great to be able to care for my home community and to work closely with my community. It feels good to be a part of it again.”
Fisher said her new position at Liberty Village was a shift from previous roles but noted that she enjoys being at the helm of enhancing the day-to-day experience of her residents.
“It’s definitely different on this side,” explained Fisher. “Even though I am not face-to-face with the residents the way I used to be, I get to work on the back end and make sure that we are providing the very best experience that we can.”
“In my limited time as an administrator, I hadn’t been blessed with as many support staff and office staff as I have here,” Fisher continued. “I have a lot of help in overseeing our staff on the floor, so that we can help them provide the best care.”
Discussing the services at Liberty Village, Fischer said, “Centralia Estates is our independent living. The census is growing, and we are seeing more and more people open to that idea. We have our long-term care, and that’s the Centralia Manor side. We also have Bounce Back, which is our rehab, recovery and go-home program, as well as memory care for folks with dementia and other cognitive issues. Our therapy here is amazing.”
Fisher announced Liberty Village will host two events this summer, meant to celebrate former residents and allow the public to see their facilities and meet the staff.
“We have our Bounce Back reunion coming up on July 18. We’re going to be reaching out to some of the people that graduated from the program and celebrate their achievements,” said Fischer. “We also have an Open House coming up on July 25. We would love the public to come out and meet our new team. A lot of us are new in our positions here, and it would be great to meet with the community.”
