Members of the agricultural community and general public are invited to enjoy a day at Unverferht Farm Supply on Thursday, March 6, for the service company’s Annual Open House.
Held each year on the first Thursday in March, the decades-spanning tradition offers a first-hand look at the Unverferht compound at 19071 Meridian Road in Centralia, along with a complimentary breakfast.
“It’s an all-day event,” said Matthew Unverfehrt, Office and Sales Manager of Unverfehrt Farm Supply. “We invite anyone and everyone from the public. Some bumper years have seen over 1,000 people come in. We’ll average 800 people easily. A lot of the community comes out.”
“We have a good amount of repeat customers that know the quality of work that we will give them,” Unverfehrt continued. “They put their trust in us and come back year after year. The customers that come to the Open House have probably been to 30 or 40 of them. They look forward to that day. We feed them pancakes and sausage, they really love it.”
Speaking about Unverfehrt Farm Supply’s trusted services, Unverfehrt said the company specializes in local and commercial grain handling and prides itself on doing as much in-house work as possible for the customer’s convenience.
In a nutshell, we service the agricultural community. We will come out to your farm; we will put out a grain bin for you. We will then come back and fix it if it needs to be fixed. We will service all of your equipment,” Unverfehrt said. “We try to do as much as we can in-house, like we are a one-stop shop.”
Unverfehrt said a majority of the company’s customer base falls with a two-hour radius and includes the counties of Washington, Clinton, Jefferson, and Marion.
Above all else, Unverfehrt Farm Supply is a family business spanning three generations.
Founded by Gus and Irene Unverfehrt, the business was later adorned to their sons Larry and Kevin, who now work alongside Larry’s wife, Kathy, his three children, Mathew, Tyler, and Jennifer, and their spouses.
Unverfehrt Farm Supply currently maintains a staff of roughly 45 employees.
