Backs and Garner spoke on several updates with the organization, including its new location in Carlyle, set to open in February; the acquisition of a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG); a needs assessment on the organization’s four-county area; and many new programs aimed at providing assistance with infant supplies for new mothers, small home and auto repairs for individuals on fixed incomes, and those struggling with mortgage payments.
Backs and Garner also spoke on BCMW Head Start and Early Head Start, which includes five schools and over 350 students across its four active counties; the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP); Project Bread, which holds senior meal sites in Centralia and Salem; scholarships provided by the organization and more.
