CCYC HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING FOR BUILDING EXPANSION

The Centralia Community Youth Center celebrated the completion of its building expansions with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 29.

The event was attended by city officials, chamber of commerce representatives, community leaders, and CCYC board members. The audience in attendance heard from CCYC program coordinator, Josh Favors, board president, Mel Kelly, Joel Brooks and Greg Sutton.

As reported by WJDB Radio, Favors said at the ceremony, “We have a gaming room with stuff in that we got through a grant. We have a library now. We have a larger tutoring room that’s a little bit quieter than trying to tutor in the gym, which is what we had to do for the last couple years. That’s going to help us out a lot. We’ll be renting out the gym and the conference room a little more often for parties and events if you know anybody interested.”

The expansion was made possible through grant funding, private donations, and partnerships with local businesses.
