ANNUAL CASA GOLF SCRAMBLE RETURNING APRIL 27

CASA of South-Central Illinois will present its 4th Annual Golf Scramble fundraiser at Colonial Golf Course on Saturday, April 27.

The scramble will kick off with registration and a lite breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Lunch will be available on the course beginning at 11 a.m.

Monetary prizes and small prizes made by donation will be presented to the winners.

CASA’s Rob Schnicker said funds from the scramble will be used to help finance the non-profit organization’s day-to-day operations.

“CASA is a 501C-3 charitable organization. It is state chartered,” Schnicker explained. “We train advocates to advocate for children who are in the judicial system in one way or another. We help out with DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services) officials, who are overworked. We help fill in those gaps to benefit children.”

“We are grant-funded and donor-funded,” Schnicker continued. “A fundraiser like this one will help fund the day-to-day operations for the organization, and to better advocate for the children they are working for.”

The scramble will feature teams of four, with Schnicker saying he hopes to see as many as 80 or more golfers in this year’s event.

“We would like to have 20 teams or so. We are hoping to have around the same amount [of participants] that we have had in previous years,” Schnicker said, “We’re hoping for roughly 80 players and up to a dozen volunteers out on the course.”

Schnicker said he and his fellow event coordinators are hoping for a good turnout, great weather, and plenty of funds to assist CASA’s crucial operations.

Those interested in being a participant or sponsor in the golf scramble may register at casa4change.org.
