LAND OF LINCOLNC CREDIT UNION CONTINUES PROGRESS

Land of Lincoln Credit Union’s Centralia branch has been steadily on the rise since setting up stakes at 234 North Poplar.

Arriving at the building in 2019, four years after its merger with the former Warren G. Murray Center Credit Union, Land of Lincoln has made a name for itself through devoted customer service and consistent volunteerism.

Ruby Berry, loan officer and business development manager at Land of Lincoln, said the Centralia branch currently houses four full-time employees and offers an ever-growing assortment of products and services.

“We offer everything; checking and savings certificates, nearly every kind of loan, including commercial loans and mortgages,” Berry said. “We have online banking and bill pay, just about anything you can think of.”

Berry noted that as a credit union Land of Lincoln’s primary function is to benefit its members, saying,” Our board of directors is all volunteer, we’re a co-op. With a bank, the profits all go to the board of directors. Our profits go back to the members.”

Further enhancing its people-friendly mission is the credit union’s stance on customer service, with Berry insisting the comfort of each and every member is key.

“We want our members to be comfortable with us and know that we know them,” Berry advised. “We don’t want them to come in here and think we don’t know them. We want to know their names, what they are used to, what they prefer. We want them to feel like they can come in here and talk to any of us about their financial needs.”

Firmly committed to volunteerism, Land of Lincoln employees accumulatively complete over 1,000 hours of community service each year.

“We want to help our community as much as possible. The community is our goal, and we want to help where we need to be helping,” Berry stated. “We do a lot of volunteer work at our offices. At the Centralia branch we do a lot for the food pantry, the youth center, and the police department. Our employees also try to volunteer 1,200 hours every year.”

Though still relatively new to the community since relocating, Berry said the Land of Lincoln is still making a name for itself in the community, and that the company will continue to see growth in the future.

“We’re still relatively new. Now that we’re here, we are open to the counties,” Berry said. “We are open to a lot of people now. We are still new down here, so they are getting to know us. I definitely expect to see more growth.”

Headquartered in Decatur, Land of Lincoln currently holds eight offices covering a total of 28 counties throughout central and southern Illinois.
