Centralia downtown buildings on the National Historic Registry are now marked in Downtown Centralia with a plaque on the sidewalk in front of the business. There are currently over 50 buildings in a 7 block area.

We are celebrating this opening of the walk with a ribbon cutting event at 2:00pm on Friday, April 24!

This event is open to the public. All are welcome to meet us on the corner of East Broadway and South Poplar to do a partial tour at 2:15pm. This tour is designed to walk downtown while following along on the See Centralia website to learn about why the buildings were chosen as a part of this walking tour.

This tour is here today because of the late John Stuehmeier. John started this project back in 2012, and in 2025 the City of Centralia was able to get the plaques ordered.
