SPERO FAMILY SERVICES YOUTHBUILD PROGRAM TO HOST OPEN ENROLLMENT INTERVIEWS MARCH 19TH IN MT.VERNON & CENTRALIA

YouthBuild of South Central Illinois, a program of Spero Family Services, will be hosting open enrollment interviews on March 19th from 9:00am-3:00 pm. Open enrollment will be held at the Mt. Vernon YouthBuild campus, 107 Shiloh Drive, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864 as well as the Centralia Campus, 200 S. Pine, Centralia, IL 62801. Interested parties should bring a photo ID, birth certificate, social security card and proof of low income.

YouthBuild offers stipends for attendance, mental health services, job readiness training, employment assistance, and more! Classes meet Monday-Friday 8:15 am-3:00 pm. YouthBuild has been serving young adults in Jefferson and Marion counties since 2006 and they are an asset to the community. YouthBuild is a federally funded, education and training program that helps at-risk 16-24-year olds obtain state equivalency degree programs, earn industry- recognized credentials for in-demand occupations, and undergo training to build housing for low- income or homeless individuals and families in their communities.

One of the most positive aspects of the YouthBuild program is how they are able to give back to the community while learning a skill. Previous cohorts of YouthBuild have had the pleasure of partnering with The City of Centralia to build two shade shelters for the new dog park and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. YouthBuild is also currently working to rehab a home in Mt. Vernon.

This is a free program. Applications are also available online at sperofs.org/youthbuild. For more information, please contact Cheryl Young, Program Manager at 242-6723 ext. 234 for Jefferson County, and 618-533-5288 in Marion County.
