SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital hosts bicycle helmet fitting and give-a-way
Did you know that 70 to 80 percent of fatal bicycle crashes involve head injuries? Statistics show that bicycle helmets could prevent four out of five serious head injuries. In an effort to encourage bicycle safety, the emergency department staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s will be partnering with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, to provide free helmet fittings on Thursday, August 13, from 10 am – 2 pm.
Parents are invited to bring their children and their bicycle helmets to the hospital for a safety fitting. SSM Health St. Mary’s will also be giving away a limited number of free children’s helmets while supplies last. Look for the balloons at the 1050 Martin Luther King Drive entrance and follow them to the bicycle safety site. Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Franczyk Pediatrics and Emily Kracht Photography for donating the helmets, this event would not be possible with their generosity.
