NExT wellness program offering new session March 5

Simple and practical tips and tools for nutrition and exercise,
impacting thousands of southern Illinois residents since 2010

CENTRALIA, IL (February 19, 2018) SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Centralia continues to collaborate with the Felician Wellness Center and the Centralia Recreation Complex to offer healthy lifestyle opportunities.  Nutrition, Exercise and Training, referred to as NExT, is an established and successful program.  Thousands of individual lives have changed, for the better, since the program’s inception in 2010.

The NExT Program class meets twice per week for six continuous weeks.  Each two hour session includes one hour of classroom time to discuss nutrition, how the body functions and healthy lifestyles.  The Program emphasizes portion control as a means of weight loss and control.  The second hour is the time to move; participants are shown multiple activities and proper safe movement which is appropriate for their individual needs.  The instructors offer one-on-one time.

Although the program usually results in weight loss, the primary goals are to promote behavior changes and to give participants the resources and knowledge needed to meet their personal goals for health and wellness. Above all, the NExT Program is entertaining, informative, and there are many opportunities to network with others who may have similar experiences.

The Felician Wellness Center, located in the Conference Center at the Centralia Recreation Complex, offers a new session of the NExT Program approximately every two months with morning, afternoon and evening sessions.  An upcoming series begins March 5th.

To demonstrate measurement of Program successes, a free health assessment is given at the beginning of the Program and again at the end of the Program.  To register, call 618.532.6427.  The NExT Program fee is $30; for those with special circumstances, financial assistance is available.

The Program is taught by certified Wellness Coaches from SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
